Family Services of Central Massachusetts (FSCM) received a Synergy Initiative Planning Grant of $254,908 in 2024 for the Family Childcare Success Project. The project will support the creation of much needed economic opportunities and increased childcare capacity through a novel approach to recruitment, training, education, and support for primarily bilingual families to start their own high-quality, culturally competent Family Childcare Businesses in their communities. The project will work with key partners to create methods and effect the system and regulatory changes needed to meet their goals.

Goals for the planning year include conducting an environmental scan of related programming and policy solutions, including national models, developing recruitment pools for bilingual trainers and coaches, standardizing training materials and finalizing the proposed intervention components. Plans are to pilot the project in Fitchburg, then phase to Worcester with the long-term goal of scaling to all of Central MA and the entire state.
